Set of Forstner Machine Bits
A rare set of 7 assorted Forstner type machine bits. These are the real Forstner type, not the modern lookalike. Sizes are 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 5/8, 7/8, 1, 1 1/4". All have good points and cutting spurs. Shank is 1/2".

When you come to an old wooden brace, you can see these were fitted with special bits that have a flat tang.These are hard to get, but here is a set of them, shell bit type, apparently unused.They are in between 3 1/4 and 3 3/4" long and some are stamped with eighteenth century type numbers. They will drill small holes up to 1/8".
